Unexcused reasons that result in attendance points
You may receive attendance points if you miss a shift, arrive late, or are sent home early for any of the following reasons:
being unaware of your scheduled shift
transportation issues such as public transportation delays, traffic, or personal vehicle issues (reliable transportation is a requirement of the role)
a schedule mix-up, such as misreading or confusing shift times or dates, or forgetting a scheduled shift.
policy non-compliance such as forgetting a required ID, being out of uniform, or missing required equipment or documentation.
Why these reasons are unexcused
These situations are considered within a driver’s control and therefore do not qualify for attendance point removal. Attendance standards are in place to ensure adequate coverage and consistent application of policy.
When to request an attendance point review
You should request an attendance point review if you believe points were issued in error or if your situation qualifies as a covered reason under the attendance policy. Common examples include
technical issues with the kiosk or problems logging in to the driver app
covered reasons such as a medical appointment, jury duty, a school-related obligation (such as a PTA meeting), or another reason outlined in the attendance policy when supporting documentation is provided
being sent home early due to Uber account issues or lack of vehicle availability
working a scheduled shift but being marked absent by the system
dropping a shift and picking up another shift on the same day
How to avoid attendance points
To avoid attendance points, review your schedule regularly and confirm upcoming shifts, plan transportation with extra time for delays, and ensure you have all required items (ID, uniform, and equipment) before arriving on site.
How to check your point balance
The best way to keep track of your attendance points is by checking your email, as notifications are sent each time points are applied to your account. This will give you the most up-to-date view of any changes.
