Sick time cannot be applied to cover missed shifts if you were suspended or terminated at the time of the scheduled shift.
Sick time is intended to cover time missed due to illness or qualifying reasons while you are actively employed and eligible to work. If you are not eligible to work because of a suspension or termination, sick time cannot be used to replace or cover those hours.
Important clarification about sick time
Sick time is not paid time off (PTO). It may only be used for qualifying absences while you are actively employed and eligible to work. Sick time is not paid out upon termination and cannot be applied retroactively after employment ends.
Common situations where sick time cannot be used
You may not use sick time if:
You missed shifts while under suspension
You missed shifts after termination
You were not eligible to work due to an active employment status restriction
