Updates to our Attendance Policy
This update to our Attendance Policy will improve the driver experience and reduce attendance points for dropped shifts. This new policy will be enforced as of 8/25/25 with added communications and clear automated warnings to drivers for accrued points.
Lateness will now be determined by Clock In Time relative to Shift Start Time (i.e. how many minutes after your shift start time you clock in). Please note this is no longer based on Alto app login time.
Note: nothing changes for existing Ops & Support attendance policy (Leads, Trainers, Service Agents). These changes are only for our Drivers.
New points for dropping a shift:
| 1 pt | 12-48 hours pre-shift |
| 2 pts | <12 hours pre-shift |
New points for tardiness:
| 1 pt | Late by 5 - 15 minutes |
| 2 pts | Late by 15 minutes - 2 hours |
| 5 pts |
No show or 2+ hours late. Note: 2 consecutive NCNS is considered Job Abandonment |
Disciplinary Warnings to Drivers
Points are accrued on a rolling 90 day basis. If a driver reaches the following points totals, they’ll receive the corresponding warnings.
- 4 pts Verbal
- 8 pts Written
- 10 pts Final
- 12 pts Termination
Warnings remain active on a driver’s record for 6 months.
Communications to Drivers
Drivers will now receive the following email communications:
- Drivers will receive an email when they drop a shift with a reminder of our Attendance Points System for dropped shifts
- Drivers will receive a Warning by email when they have accrued 4, 8, and 10 points, according to the progressive Disciplinary Warning structure.
Possible Questions:
Did my previous attendance points get wiped out? *Please only share this if asked by a driver
Yes, your points started fresh on 8/25/25.
Why am I getting attendance points?
Attendance points are accrued for shifts dropped within 48 hours of their start time, lateness, and no shows. Check your email for updates on points accrued from dropped shifts, as well as warning emails when you have accrued 4 points or more.
When am I considered late?
Lateness is based on your Clock In Time relative to your Shift Start Time, in other words, how many minutes after your shift start time you clock in. You will receive points for clocking in 5 minutes or more after your shift start time.
What if I drop a shift and then pick up another one right away?
You will still receive points in accordance with the Attendance Policy. Be sure to check your schedule at least 48 hours in advance to make changes without penalty.
Can I trade a shift?
No, this option is not available at this time.
What if I pick up a shift by accident?
You have 10 minutes after picking up a shift to drop it without penalty.
How do I submit documentation to excuse an absence or tardy?
If dropping a shift before it starts, upload documentation directly into the Driver Portal. If you need to submit documentation later, submit a form here. Documentation must be submitted within 72 hours of returning to work.
Do Attendance Points expire?
Attendance points roll off after 90 days. 12 points in a 90 day window will result in termination. If you receive a disciplinary warning it will be active for 6 months.
